Amitabh Bachchan, the superstar of Bollywood is at the centre of a new altercation. The inauguration of the extension of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai, which he attended made a part of Congress leaders uncomfortable – apparently because he was invited to a Congress-NCP platform despite his close association with former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh.

On Wednesday night itself, Amitabh Bachchan responded through this blog: “A fresh controversy has been rapidly manufactured on my involvement in today’s event on the sea link. But of that some other time and space.”

“I had been invited by a Minister in the Government to attend and so I went along.” Albeit, just before attending the inauguration, Bachchan had strongly reacted to the Left’s objection to him being a brand ambassador for Kerala – because he’s already one for Narendra Modi’s Gujarat.

Bachchan blogged: “Where is the connect with the glorification of the present Government? You take umbrage at my association with Gujarat, but never have the guts or courage to stop a Ratan Tata, or an Ambani from investing in the state and running successful factories and ventures there.”

At the forefront, was the Chief Minister himself. “He’s the brand ambassador of another state. We would like to promote our own state. Perhaps I would not have attended the function had I known he would be present,” said Ashok Chavan, adding, “I’ve heard that some people in the Congress are unhappy that Amitabh Bachchan was invited.” It could be because Big B is the brand ambassador of Gujarat and Modi, CM of that state belongs opposition party.

The point is we’re so proud and multi-cultural country and proclaim that in every possible way and is this the matured way to show in action, especially political leaders?
